If you are looking for a pure form of fishing, Glacier National Park offers some world class Dolly Varden fishing. Fly-fishing is awesome, with cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, Dolly Varden trout, eastern brook trout, arctic grayling, and kokanee salmon available. An out-of-state license is not required, and information on limits and regulations concerning open and closing dates should be checked before casting a line.
Lake fishing can be very good with good fishing reported at Elizabeth, Ellen Wilson, Grace, Hidden, and Isabel Lakes. The North Fork of the Flathead is considered the best stream fishing, but heavy spring runoff muddies water clarity making fishing difficult from March to July.
